I Got My A2 Results! Here’s How I Did

After all the work, all the waiting — the results of my A2 (CIPLE) European Portuguese exam finally arrived.

And yes... I passed! I achieved Muito Bom!

If you're looking for information about how to get your results and how to interpret them please see my post on the results of the A1 exam.

🧾 What the Results Looked Like

I received a breakdown of scores by skill area: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Each section is graded separately, and you need to meet a minimum overall threshold to pass.

My strongest area was speaking (which honestly surprised me a little!), and my weakest was, as expected, listening, I’ve always found that part the most challenging due to hearing limitations.

😌 How It Felt

There was definitely a wave of relief. Even though I didn’t need a super high mark, I had put in a lot of effort and was nervous about the listening section dragging me down.

More than anything, the result gave me closure on a chapter of my learning journey, a clear milestone and validation that the work was paying off.

🔁 What I Would Do Differently

Even though I passed, there are things I’d tweak if I were doing it again:

  • More consistent listening practice — not just exam audios but natural-speed podcasts or videos
  • Earlier speaking prep — even though I scored well, I didn’t feel as fluent as I wanted
  • More mock exams under timed conditions — to build stamina and confidence

💡 Final Thoughts for Other Learners

Getting the result is a moment worth celebrating. Not just because of the certificate but because it reflects real progress.

If you’re thinking of taking the A2 exam:

  • Start preparing early
  • Work on your weakest skill a little every day
  • Trust the process — even if it feels slow sometimes, it adds up

And now, I think I will rest this year, I don't want to put too much pressure on myself but I may start doing the exams again next year, it depends how things go.
